After your cedula is issued—usually within 2–3 months—we handle your RUC registration. The RUC is what establishes you as a taxpayer in Paraguay, completing the tax residency setup.

Required Documents for Paraguay’s Two-Year Temporary Residency

Before traveling, you’ll need to prepare:

• A valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity

• An apostilled birth certificate

• An apostilled criminal record certificate from your home country or country of legal residence

Processing Timeline & What Happens After Your Visit

Your cedula typically takes 3-4 months to be issued. Once ready, it can be sent to you anywhere in the world.

Transitioning to Permanent Residency

Temporary residency in Paraguay is valid for two years. At the end of that period, you simply return for a brief 3–5 day visit to convert it into permanent residency.

Maintaining permanent resident status is extremely flexible—just one visit every three years is sufficient.
